The Chicora Wood Plantation, a circa-1819 Greek-Revival home on nearly 1,000 acres, sits along the Pee Dee River in Georgetown, SC. The owners, Jamie and Marcia Constance, bought in 1984 as a part-time home, and have put more than $3 million into restoring and upgrading it. “It became a passion,” said Mr. Constance, who with his wife lives most of the year in Santa Barbara, Calif. Their 2½-year restoration was based in part on books and letters written by an early homeowner’s daughter, Elizabeth Allston Pringle, from the early 1900s.
